What it is:

in order to perform music, a composer must first create it.

Whether you wish to compose classical, pop or rock music, Music4All provides you with a structured curriculum based on 4 levels that allows you to compose for a variety of styles.

Grade 2

The student composes 3 songs.

The first piece must feature one single instrument and must last between 1 and 2 minutes.

The second is a song in any musical style or a piano and voice piece of 1 and 2 minutes.

The third song must be a composition from the grade 1 piano book using any 3 instruments.

Grade 4

The student has two options:

Option A

The student must compose:

  • One song for any 2 instruments, 3-4 minutes.
  • A song in any style of music for at least 2-3 minutes for another 2 instruments.
  • An arrangement for a grade 3 piano song for any 4 instruments.

Option B

The student must compose:

  • A 3-4 minute song for voice and any other instrument.
  • An arrangement for a song or a new composition that must last 3-4 minutes for any 3 instruments.
  • A orchestration for a song from the grade 3 piano book for 4 instruments.

Grade 6

The student has two options:

Option A

The student must compose:

  • One song for any 3 instruments, 4-5 minutes.
  • A musical sheet for any song or 4-part creation where at least one part is vocal.
  • Orchestration of a song from the grade 5 piano book for a quintet.

Option B

The student must compose:

  • A 5-6 minute song for voice and 2 instruments.
  • Orchestration for 3-4 minutes for any song or creation for any 4 instruments.
  • Orchestration of a song from the grade 5 piano book for a quintet.

Grade 8

The student has two options:

Option A

The student must compose:

  • A 5-6 minute song for any 4 instruments.
  • A sheet for a song or own composition with 5 independent parts of which at least one is vocal and one features a polyphonic instrument (4-5 minutes).
  • Orchestration of a song from the grade 7 piano book for 6 instruments.

Option B

The student must compose:

  • A song for voice and any 3 instruments, 5-6 minutes.
  • 4-5 minutes orchestration for a song or composition for 5 instruments of which at least one is polyphonic.
  • Orchestration of a song from the grade 7 piano book for 6 instruments.
