What it is:
an instrument belonging to the chords family. Sounds fall in a lower register compared to the guitar. Also known as the electric bass, the instrument has extended the musical possibilities of pop, rock, country, hip hop, R&B.
Bass guitar appeared as a constant requirement on the American jazz scene at the end of the 40s and beginning of the 50s as a logistic and tonal necessity when it came to amplification. In 1951 Leo Fender built the first electric bass, Precision 51, modeled on the contrabass register, only keeping the highly ergonomic architecture of the electric guitar invented only a few years before.
Why choose bass guitar:
The bass has a direct impact on the emotion that a melody creates.
As a harmonic instrument it triggers the lowers frequencies and creates the musical foundation.
It helps you become a better composer.
It can be easier to learn for beginners thanks to its 4-chord structure.
The nature of the instrument allows you to socialize and work with a team.
Bass connects the drums and the rest of the instruments, it’s the link between rhythm and harmony.
You can practice without disturbing anyone by using headphones.
It’s the instrument with the sharpest increase in popularity in the 20th century, after the drums.
